Sites like EasyBib and CitationMachine have led students to believe that they never need to learn how to cite information on their own, but depending on the internet to cite sources for you is a bad idea. First, you never know when your wi-fi is going to go out; second, I’ve seen citation tools be wrong fairly frequently. They are never completely wrong, but when I have used them (usually at two in the morning the night before something is due!) I have sometimes had to make minor corrections. (i.e.: This should be italicized, this should be a period, the article title should go here instead of there, and so on…) Some teachers will let mistakes like that slide, but others are sticklers for exactitude.
